The League of Women Voters of the Morris Area will host candidate debates in Morris Township and Morris Plains ahead of the Nov. 3 election.
The first, featuring six candidates for three seats on the Morris Township Committee, is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. in the Morristown High School auditorium, 50 Early St., Morristown.
The public may attend in person or watch the debate live on the LWV Morris Area YouTube channel.
George Talarico (R), Joscelin Grizzetti (R), Stephanie Lyon (D) and Jeremy B. Godwin (D) are running for two three-year terms. Those seats presently are held by Siva Jonnada and William “Bud” Ravitz, who are not on the November ballot.
Samantha Rothman (D), who was appointed to the Township Committee in March to fill the vacancy created by the departure of Mark Gyorfy, is running against John Biehl (R) to serve the remaining year of Gyorfy’s unexpired term.
The public may submit questions for the Morris Township debate through Monday, Sept. 27, at 4 p.m. Submit questions.
MORRIS PLAINS MAYORAL DEBATE
The League also will host a debate between the two candidates for Morris Plains mayor on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2026, at 7 p.m. in the Borough School auditorium, 500 Speedwell Ave., Morris Plains.
The public may attend in person or watch live on the LWV Morris Area YouTube channel.
Incumbent Mayor Jason C. Karr (I) is seeking another four-year term. He is being challenged by Nancy Verga (D), a member of the Morris Plains Borough Council.
The public may submit questions through Monday, Oct. 5, at 4 p.m. Submit questions.

VOTING INFORMATION
Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026, with polls open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Early in-person voting runs from Oct. 24 through Nov. 1, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and Saturdays, and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
Information about voting by mail is available from the New Jersey Division of Elections.
