From the Interfaith Food Pantry Network:
The Interfaith Food Pantry Network (IFPN) in Morris Plains is busy preparing for its annual Thanksgiving program, with plans to distribute Thanksgiving fare to 2,700 Morris County families this holiday season.
IFPN is once again counting on the generosity of community partners, schools, scouts, civic organizations, houses of worship, businesses and individual donors to help ensure that local families can enjoy a complete Thanksgiving meal.
“Thanksgiving is always an important time for our community to come together, and this year, the need is great,” says Carolyn Lake, executive director of IFPN.
The Thanksgiving program provides families with turkeys and all the ingredients needed to make a traditional holiday meal. Recipients include enrolled families, as well as requests from other Morris County agencies.
“It is a coordinated effort among our partners to avoid duplication and ensure we have enough for everyone,” notes Lake.
IFPN is encouraging community groups, companies, individuals, schools, houses of worship, and other organizations to organize food drives. It’s especially helpful to receive donations by the first week in November, to allow enough time for IFPN and its volunteers to receive, sort, and pack Thanksgiving bags for the community.
Distributions begin on Nov. 1, 2026.
“The generosity of our community has always been at the heart of our Thanksgiving program,” says Lake. “We’re incredibly grateful to the many organizations and individuals who ensure that our neighbors can celebrate the holiday with food on their tables.”
