Morristown officially ushered in the spooky season Saturday with the 2026 Morris Arts Pumpkin Illumination at the Vail Mansion.

The festivities started with Kit’s Interactive Theater telling the story of Sleepy Hollow, with the audience playing most of the parts including Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horseman.

Kids had plenty to do, from decorating an incredibly tall mummy to donning masks for the luminary parade.  Morristown’s creativity was on full display in the carved pumpkins —  everything from traditional Jack ‘o Lanterns to a tribute to the late, great Dolly Parton and Tim Curry.

The evening’s highlight was the luminary parade, led by Mayor Tim Dougherty and first lady Mary Dougherty along with state Sen. Anthony M. Bucco (R-25th Dist.) and town Council President Steve Pylypchuk.  A scary good time was had by all!

Next up: Trick or treating for the kids this Friday, Oct. 30, 2026, from 2 pm to 5 pm on the town hall lawn (200 South St.) and from 3 pm to 5 pm at South Street businesses.
