Patrons of The Troubadour witnessed an emotional experiment Friday in Morris Township.
Folk Project songwriters presented Vet Songs, their musical interpretations of veterans’ stories, followed by an inspirational mini-set by Theresa Sareo.
Sareo has worked closely with wounded veterans since losing a leg after a motor vehicle struck her more than two decades ago.
The audience also was moved by a tribute to Nashville icon Dolly Parton, who died last week at 80. Folk Project members Christine DeLeon and Ken Galipeau quickly pulled together their duet of this 1974 Parton hit, famously covered by Whitney Houston in 1992:

Sareo said the evening inspired her — to contemplate replicating Vet Songs at more venues. She encouraged Friday’s artists to record their compositions. Proceeds from the show were earmarked for the Disabled Veterans of America.
