Looking for fun in Greater Morristown this weekend?

Morristown High has Something ROTTEN! — and the school is proud of it!

And the fun doesn’t stop there.

One of the high school’s best-known grads, organist extraordinaire John Ginty, will be a special guest star with the Devon Allman Project at the Mayo Performing Arts Center.

The New Jersey Festival Orchestra takes you to the North Pole, in a Drew University concert that includes authentic Arctic birdsong.

And that’s only the tip of the entertainment iceberg.

THURSDAY, MARCH 24, 2022:

Jazz favorite Grover Kemble performs at Rockaway’s Caffe Navona, 147 Route 46, from 6 – 9 pm.

At 7 pm, the Morristown & Township Library presents a virtual discussion of The Babushkas of Chernobyl, a documentary about a group of women who still live in the Exclusion Zone near the former Chernobyl nuclear reactor in Ukraine, site of the 1986 disaster. The film may be streamed from the library’s Kanopy service, or via YouTube. Email here for Zoom access; put Real-to-Reel in subject line.

FRIDAY, MARCH 25:

Grace Church in Madison presents half-hour noontime organ meditations every Friday throughout Lent at 12:15 pm. Today’s annual Helen E.J. Thomas Memorial Concert, presented by Patricia Ruggles and organist Anne Matlack, features Magnificats and more in honor of Annunciation Day. Free. At 4 Main St., 973-377-0106.

Volunteers are being sought for the annual Whippany River cleanup, from 8:30 am to noon, near the Bethel AME Church at Spring Street and Bishop Nazery Way in Morristown.

What do we make of the many ills in this world?  Dr. Miroslav Volf of the Yale Divinity School will take his best shot at 4:30 pm at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Morristown. He is speaking as part of the church’s Spong Lecture Series. Tickets are $10.  The church is at 121 South St. Volf also will preach on Sunday at St. Peter’s 8 am and 10:30 am services.

Looking for a road trip?  Dick Boak, whose book inspired a recent Morris Museum exhibit about a world famous ukulele, is hosting Boak Bash 2 at the State Theatre in Easton, PA, at 7:30 pm. The Morris Winter Farmers Market concludes its ninth season, from 9:30 pm to 1 pm at Convent Station in Morris Township.  Presented by Grow It Green Morristown.
