You can’t keep a good festival down.

A nor’easter pushed the annual Morristown Festival on the Green back by a weekend — a first — while a steady drizzle Sunday made for a raw afternoon. Yet nobody seemed to mind.

“I mean, people really come out no matter what with this event. It’s a testament to the town and everybody who looks forward to this every year. So we’re thrilled,” said Karen Roettger, development director for the Morristown Partnership, which has organized the sprawling festival for more than three decades.

Even with the loss of a few vendors because of the rescheduling, this year’s event was the biggest yet, with nearly 200 participating organizations, Roettger said. “We’re just thrilled with everybody’s support,” she said.

Festivalgoers had plenty of entertainment options Sunday, including a biennial tour of Morristown Historic District homes and a classic car show.

The Partnership won’t have long to savor its achievement. The Christmas Festival on the Morristown Green is only weeks away. And then…

“We’ll start working on next year’s (fall festival) probably in about a month,” Roettger said.
