A nor’easter may blow our way this weekend. But if the weather cooperates, history will come alive, fireworks will return to Morristown, and the Festival on the Green will take over downtown. Call ahead to confirm outdoor events before heading out.
Living History Weekend stretches from Friday through Sunday, with Revolutionary War trivia, reenactors, and historic-site programs and Saturday-night fireworks before wrapping up with a History Corridor at Sunday’s Festival on the Green.
Also on tap: Kenny G, Ailey II, UB40, David Foster and Katharine McPhee, comedy, Victorian homes, a rummage sale and the story of Flaco, the owl who captured New York’s heart.

Living History Weekend: Morristown’s three-day celebration of the area’s Revolutionary War history kicks off with Revolutionary History Trivia Night at Glenbrook Brewery. Mount Tabor House Tour: Step inside more than 15 privately owned Victorian cottages during the Historical Society’s self-guided, walkable tour of the Mount Tabor Historic District. Visitors also can explore hidden gardens and the elaborate gingerbread woodwork that distinguishes the historic former Methodist camp meeting community. Mount Tabor. 11 am-4 pm. Living History Weekend continues: Revolutionary War reenactors and historic figures take over the Morristown Green from 11 am-3 pm, with a militia, demonstrations, 18th-century medical and weaponry exhibits, and a silhouette artist. Historic organizations around Morristown will offer special programs, exhibits, talks and tours from 11 am-4 pm, including Macculloch Hall Historical Museum, the Sansay House and programs by the Morris County Historical Society at the Presbyterian Church in Morristown.
***UPDATE: On Thursday the town postponed this fireworks display, citing safety concerns from a potential nor’easter. Stay tuned for any rescheduling plans.**** The day concludes with Sanofi-sponsored fireworks at dusk. Viewing locations are Pioneer Park at Headquarters Plaza, on Speedwell Avenue; Cauldwell Playground, at Clyde Potts Drive and Flagler Street; and Bishop Nazery Way and Center Street.
