David A. Adler, famously known for the Cam Jansen series, came to the Sussex Avenue School recently to share his secrets of how to write great stories.

Having written more than 250 books in both fiction and nonfiction, Adler offered an engaging one-hour presentation to each grade level. He discussed ideas on how to create characters and interesting plots, the research process, and why everyone has the capacity to write unique stories.

Around mid-day, Adler and several students enjoyed a luncheon with pizza and cookies. Participating students had the chance to eat with him and ask questions about his writing and personal interests.

These particular students had written excellent personal narratives about a time in their lives that they would never forget, kind of like Cam Jansen and her photographic memory.

Students enjoyed meeting David Adler and hearing his insights on the writing process. He even showed the kids a few magic tricks. Fun was had by all.
