When it was time for Kelly Cramer to choose a career, the choice was simple.

“My aunts were hairdressers, and so were all my mom’s friends,” said Kelly, the 24-year-old manager of the new Supercuts salon on South Street in Morristown, next to SmartWorld Organic Coffee.

The salon did a “soft launch” on July 20, with four stylists. Kelly is looking to hire at least three more.

When the place is at full strength, salon hours will be extended from the present seven-day, 11 am-to-7 pm schedule to 9 am-9 pm on weekdays, 9-to-7 on Saturdays and 10-to-5 on Sundays.

While growing up in Jefferson, Kelly said, she often visited Morristown restaurants and night spots.

“I love Morristown,” she said. “It’s so young and trendy and up-and-coming. There’s so much diversity.”

A graduate of the Artistic Academy, a cosmology school in Morris Plains, Kelly has managed Supercuts salons in Northvale and Rockaway.  She thinks Supercuts prices–starting at $13.95 for kids and $15.95 for adults–will find a niche.

“Everything else here is fairly upscale,” she said of Morristown. “It’s nice to have a salon that’s affordable for everybody.”
