The Morris School District invites members of the community to learn more about the upcoming Sept. 15, 2026, bond referendum at three informational forums open to the public.
Community members will hear from district leaders and professional consultants who led the planning for the bond referendum. Participants will have the option to ask questions following a presentation. Translation services will also be provided.

Over the last decade, Morris School District has invested $55 million through annual budgets, capital reserves and state grants to improve infrastructure and expand and renovate buildings. However, the district is now planning its first bond referendum in nearly 30 years to address large-scale needs and benefit from state aid that comes with voter approval.
“The proposed improvements have long-range implications for our communities in Morristown and Morris Township and would set the stage for the future of the school district,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Anne Mucci.
“Our goal is to make sure every resident understands the plan and has the information they need to make an informed decision on Sept. 15.”
Project priorities across the district’s 10 schools include infrastructure improvements such as roofing and window replacements, electrical upgrades, and district-wide HVAC projects to provide air conditioning to all spaces across the district.
The referendum also would fund an eight-classroom addition at Frelinghuysen Middle School and a three-classroom addition at Sussex Avenue Elementary School to address critical space needs at both schools.
In addition, participants will learn about how the projects would be funded, including $46.4 million in state aid if approved by voters.
