If you see a helicopter buzzing the trees in Morristown this month, it’s probably inspecting power lines.

The mayor’s office said Friday that FirstEnergy’s Jersey Central Power & Light is conducting annual vegetation management aerial patrols. Flyovers from April through September strive to identify conditions that threaten the safety and reliability of the transmission system.

Weather permitting, HeloAir will hover over Morristown on June 14 and 15, 2021.

A Bell 206 chopper with tail number 828HA may fly above or alongside power lines at 35-40 mph, and may circle for closer inspection, according to the mayor’s office.
