From the Morristown & Township Library:

The Library will be closed to the public beginning Sunday, March 15.  Statement on Library Preparations related to COVID-19 (coronavirus)

The Library will close to the public starting 5:00 pm Saturday, March 14, 2020, with a tentative reopening date of Wednesday, April 1.

In an effort to protect the high-risk populations that we serve, as well as minimize the potential exposure/transmission of COVID-19, The Morristown & Morris Township Library will close the Library facility and grounds starting Sunday, March 15, through Tuesday, March 31.

Based upon recommendations from the Center for Disease Control, the County of Morris and other local health departments in reducing the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in the community, all Library programs, classes and events are also cancelled through March 31.

This includes any scheduled public meetings.  We will reassess the situation at that time to determine further cancellations and closings.  For additional information on future Library opening and program resumption, please follow updates on the Library’s website at: https://MMTLibrary.org.

All library materials that are currently checked out by patrons will receive auto-renewals and will be charged no fines through April 30.  We are instructing our patrons to hold onto any checked out Library materials for now and return them once the Library has re-opened.  Again, no late fees will be charged.   Our Friends of the Library will not accept book/media donations during this period.

The Library’s mission is to remain a resource for our residents.  These safety measures are being taken out of an abundance of caution and to be consistent with recommendations for social distancing.

We appreciate our patrons’ patience and understanding. If you have any further questions, please email the Library at info@jfpl.org or call (973) 538-6161.  Any updates will be on the Library’s website at: https://MMTLibrary.org.

As a reminder, the best ways to reduce risk of getting sick, as with seasonal colds or the flu, still applies to prevent COVID-19:

  • Wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze.
  • Stay home if you are sick.
  • Avoid touching your face.
  • Try alternatives to shaking hands, like an elbow bump or wave.
  • If you have recently returned from a country, state or region with ongoing COVID-19 infections, monitor your health and follow the instructions of public health officials.
  • Vulnerable individuals, which is defined as 60+ years or who have health conditions such as heart disease, lung disease, diabetes, kidney disease and weakened immune systems, are recommended to limit outings, avoid large gatherings, telecommute if possible, stay home if they are sick and avoid people who are sick.
  • There is no recommendation to wear masks at this time to prevent yourself from getting sick.

Please refer to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website for frequently asked questions.
