Thursday’s fire at George & Martha’s American Grille has displaced 13 people, according to Morristown Mayor Tim Dougherty.

The Scotto management company has agreed to put them up “for the duration,” Dougherty said.  An apartment above the restaurant was “totally gutted,” he said, and the roof was ripped up by firemen battling the fire.

George & Martha’s is owned by the Morristown-based Villa Restaurant Group, led by Ben and Anthony Scotto, who also own Scotto Properties.

The fire appears to have spread upstairs from a restaurant kitchen duct, Fire Chief Robert Flanagan said.
