‘Taste of Morristown’ has a new location and a new price next month

2

Mark your calendar now for Monday, March 28, and enjoy plenty of food, wine and other spirits as the Morristown Rotary club stages its ninth annual Taste of Morristown event. This year the evening of food, wine and drink will be held in a new location, the Hanover Marriott on Route 10 in East Hanover.

A vast array of food styles from American to Indian, Irish, Latino and Italian will be among the tasting opportunities. Appropriate wines, beers and other drinks can be sampled throughout the evening which will run from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Live music and a silent auction will be part of the festivities; proceeds from ticket sales and the silent auction will go towards the Rotary’s various fundraisers.

The Morristown Rotary contributes approximately $100,000 per year to a variety of local, national and international causes.

In the last year alone, Morristown Rotarians supplied a dozen Shelterboxes to earthquake-ravaged Haiti, planted flower barrels in Morristown’s business district, donated time, labor and financial aid to Camp Merry Heart, an Easter Seals camp in Hackettstown for disabled children and through the Gift of Life program, arranged for a child from an impoverished nation to have a life-saving heart operation at a U.S. hospital.

Tickets are available at a new low price of $60 each.

The Morrisown Hotels were all given the opportunity to host the event, however since it has grown so significantly they could not commit the resources. Please come to a Morristown Rotary meeting to learn about the many terrific things Morristown Rotary does locally including significant donations and bi annual camp maintenance at Camp Merryheart. We meet every Wed. for breakfast at the Best Western 7:30 am, Lunch at Springbrook Country Club 12:15 and after work at the Dublin Pub 5:30.

  2. It is a shame that this “Morristown” event isn’t even held within the Town itself. Our hotel should be supported as well as the spill over benefit to local shops, etc.

Seems like Rotary is more interested in supporting global initiatives than those right here in our own backyard.

Skip the flowers and do something that actually improves the lives of those most in need locally. How many Morristown kids go to Camp Merry Heart?
