When Cory Booker runs for office, he runs for office.

The Newark Mayor laced up his jogging shoes to bring his Senate campaign to the streets of Morristown on Tuesday night. (See video above.)

A starry-eyed crowd gave him the rock star treatment. It didn’t hurt that Cory was buying everyone frozen yogurts at Strawberry Fields after completing the 1.5-mile route, which started at Morristown High School.

“People who sweat together, stick together,” was Cory’s message for the day.

The candidate is running in a special primary on Aug. 13, against fellow Democrats Rush Holt , Frank Pallone and Sheila Oliver. Steve Lonegan and Alieta Eck are running in the GOP primary.

They all seek to replace the late Sen. Frank Lautenberg, who died recently.

A special election is set for Oct. 16.

These “Run With Cory” events–prior stops included Atlantic City, Camden, Hamilton and Newark–have stirred some political back-and-forth.

If the other candidates are watching…how about a sushi stroll or a steak stampede?

  1. Thanks, Karl. I did jog the whole thing. Next time, roller blades–they will make for smoother video footage! 😉

  2. Good vid Kev, did you run the whole way? I think the idea of doing jogs in select NJ towns is a great campaign technique. I got to talk to Cory about environmental issues and sustainable energy and Obama’s “Grand Bargain”. I think he’d make a fine Senator.
