Troubadour Concert Series: Jeff Daniels
April 11 @ 7:30 pm - 10:30 pm
$55
In 1976, JEFF DANIELS bought a Guild D-40 guitar from Herb David’s Guitar Studio in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and moved to New York City. That guitar became a creative outlet, leading him to discover a hidden talent for songwriting. Over 40 years later, Daniels continues to write, sing, and perform. Since 2000, he has played at notable venues like The Birchmere, Club Passim, and New York City’s Birdland, touring nationwide with his son’s Ben Daniels Band.
And, yes, this is the same Jeff Daniels who has acted in over 70 movies ranging from “Terms of Endearment” to “101 Dalmatians” to “Arachnophobia,” who has starred on Broadway as Atticus Finch in “To Kill a Mockingbird,” and who has appeared numerous TV shows. But he says, “Much as I love acting, however, I don’t do it every day. The only thing I do every day, the only thing I want to do, the only thing I have to do, is play my acoustic guitar.”
Daniels has shared the stage with renowned music stars such as Lyle Lovett, John Hiatt, and Bruce Hornsby. In 2012, the Martin Guitar Company introduced the OM Jeff Daniels Custom Artist Edition Guitar, and he narrated the award-winning documentary The Ballad of the Dreadnought. Inspired by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Lanford Wilson, Daniels has combined his passion for songwriting, creating a distinctive artistic voice.
Opening the show will be ABBY POSNER, a multi-instrumentalist and “Genre Fluid” musical force in Los Angeles. Known for her high-energy performances, she blends folk, roots, pop, and electronic sounds. A virtuoso on guitar, banjo, drums, mandolin, and bass, her live shows captivate audiences. Whether playing a bluesy guitar solo or a jaw-dropping banjo riff, her presence is magnetic.
Her music appears on Hulu, Netflix, and The CW. She’s showcased at Americana Fest 2023 and Folk Alliance 2022, 2024. From TV shows like GLEE to international radio hits, her talent knows no bounds. Her 2023 album Second Chances features the hit “Get Loud,” charting globally and marking an exciting new chapter in her career.
