Troubadour Concert Series: David Roth
March 3, 2023 @ 7:30 pm - 10:30 pm
$10David Roth writes believable songs that reach listeners’ hearts and minds, and he sings them in a big baritone voice, accompanying himself on guitar and piano. His songs have found their way to Carnegie Hall, the United Nations, several Chicken Soup for the Soul books, the Kennedy Center, the Space Shuttle Atlantis, and the classic folk song books “Rise Up Singing” and sequel “Rise Again,” as well as CDs by Peter, Paul & Mary and the Kingston Trio. David has headlined at innumerable folk festivals and concert series, sung the National Anthem at a Chicago Bulls NBA game, and – very atypical for a folk musician – is a popular keynote speaker/singer at conferences and conventions.
Tom Chapin called him “one of the finest singers and songwriters around.” Jack Canfield, co-author, Chicken Soup for the Soul books, said, “David and his music will touch you to the very depths of your soul. He’ll make you laugh and cry, inspire you to rise and fly…” He has great vocal chops, an engaging stage presence, and the ability to inspire a belief in a brighter future with his songs.
Opening will be songwriter Erin Ash Sullivan, who writes wordy, clever songs telling interesting stories about interesting people. The Worcester Telegram & Gazette describes her music as “delicate and evocative,” with songs full of “nuance and emotional resonance.” She and her music have received numerous songwriting honors, including Falcon Ridge Emerging Artist, Rose Garden Performing Songwriter competition (finalist), and Mid-Atlantic Song Contest (finalist.)
COVID-19 information: Masks are recommended, but not required. When possible, Troubadour will have separate seating sections – one in which masks are required and one in which masks are optional.
