“Gods of Wood and Stone”: Mark Di Ionno author event
March 26 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pmFree
Award-winning newspaper columnist Mark Di Ionno will discuss his latest novel, Gods of Wood and Stone, with library patrons in the lower level Meeting Room. This is an introspective, intrinsically American novel about two men from disparate worlds set on an explosive collision course culminating at the annual Hall of Fame Induction ceremony in Cooperstown, New York. In this searing exploration of honor and masculinity, sports and celebrity, marriage and parenting, such timeless themes as the responsibilities of manhood and the pitfalls of glory are viewed through the lens of baseball—and its outsized influence on a small town and the people in it. Our presenter: Mark Di Ionno is a popular columnist for the Newark Star-Ledger as well as a novelist. A Pulitzer Prize finalist, he began his career as a sportswriter for the NY Post. The father of six children, he lives in New Jersey where he also teaches journalism at Rutgers University.
