$18 – $35Choral Art Society of New Jersey will present the first concert of its 63rd season on Sunday, January 26, 2025 at 3:00 PM. The concert will feature a perfect pairing of works by composers Marianna von Martines (1744-1812) and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791). The Dixit Dominus by Martines and the Missa brevis in Bb K.275 by Mozart will be performed with professional soloists and orchestra. The concert will be held at The Presbyterian Church in Westfield, 140 Mountain Avenue, Westfield, NJ. We would love to see you in the audience and at an open reception following the concert!
Martines and Mozart were contemporaries from the fertile musical landscape of 18th century Vienna. They traveled in the same circles and could often be found playing duets on the fortepiano at popular Viennese salon events of the 1780s. In addition to Martines’s 7 movement Dixit Dominus and Mozart’s 6 movement Missa Brevis in Bb K.275, the concert will include two of Mozart’s seventeen short instrumental Church Sonatas. It will conclude with one of Mozart’s most beloved works, the beautiful Ave Verum Corpus K.618.
The performance will be conducted by Choral Art Society of NJ’s Music Director, Doctor John Wilson, and will feature the group’s accompanist, Carol Walker on organ and harpsichord. Soloists Colleen Kinderman (Soprano), Melissa Fajardo (Mezzo-Soprano), Mike Williams (Tenor), and Jacob Kinderman (Baritone) will join the chorus and orchestra.
Adult tickets are $30 in advance / $35 at the door. Senior/Student tickets are $25 (advance) / $30. Under 18 are admitted free. To purchase advance tickets for the January 26th concert (snow date February 2nd), visit www.casofnj.org
