Chamber Music for Charity Presents Harp and Organ Concert
To Benefit Grow it Green

MADISON, NJ (November 2019) – Elegant music from Bach, Vivaldi and others will be performed by the Chamber Music for Charity in a benefit concert on Saturday, November 9, at 7:30 pm at Grace Church to support the mission and work of Grow it Green. The program presents an evening of pure musical delight featuring Merynda Adams on harp and Brian Preston Harlow on organ. There will be a free will offering at the door, and all donations go directly to Grow it Green Morristown.

The audience will be treated to the mighty Fantasia in G Major (Pièce d’Orgue) BWV 572 by Johann Sebastian Bach. Its sparkling opening bars make way for harmonic richness and emotional patterned chords, paired with dramatic pedal tone.

The program also presents the Concerto in D Major by Antonio Vivaldi, performed in three movements. Vivaldi’s appeal to modern audiences can be attributed to his clear harmonic treatment, rhythmic vitality and thwarting of the listener’s expectations.

Presenting a varied selection of music, the concert also features pieces by Marcel Grandjany, César Franck, William Mathias and others.

Merynda Adams, harpist, is in demand as a soloist and chamber musician performing throughout the United States, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, and Canada. She has performed with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, New York Grand Opera, New Philharmonic, Lyrica Chamber Music, Northeastern Philharmonic, Colonial Symphony, Westfield Symphony, NJ Festival Orchestra, Lake Placid Symphonietta and off Broadway in “The Fantasticks.” Described by the Newark Star Ledger as having “played the harp with color and great facility,” Ms. Adams is a 1994 winner of the Artists International Competition and the Goldblatt Award. She has performed as soloist for events honoring Beverly Sills, Colin Powell and Andrea Bocelli and as part of the Celtic Woman tour. Ms. Adams is the Vice President of the North Jersey Chapter of the American Harp Society.

Brian Preston Harlow, an accomplished choral conductor, teacher, organist, and composer, serves as Director of the Rutgers University –Newark Chorus, Director of the Apprentice Chorus and music theory teacher at the Newark Boys Chorus School, and Organist and Choirmaster of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Gladstone, NJ. He is a frequent recitalist and collaborative artist with choirs and other instrumentalists throughout the United States and Europe. Dr. Harlow holds the Doctor of Musical Arts, Master of Musical Arts, and Master of Music degrees from Yale University School of Music, where he received the Faculty Prize for exemplifying the ideals of the Institute of Sacred Music. He is the Instrumental Music Reviewer for the Journal of The Association of Anglican Musicians.

“I am thrilled to be performing with Brian Preston Harlow in this concert to benefit Grow it Green,” states Merynda Adams. “It is a wonderful opportunity to nourish the soul and nourish others by helping them acquire the basic needs of fresh food.”
