Pioneer Productions Company will be holding auditions for its upcoming production of “Songs For A New World”, written by Jason Robert Brown and directed by Daniel Peter Vissers. “Songs For A New World” is the powerful, tour de force debut musical of Jason Robert Brown (Parade, Bridges of Madison County, The Last 5 Years).

Songs for a New World is, according to composer Jason Robert Brown, “about one moment. It’s about hitting the wall and having to make a choice, or take a stand, or turn around and go back.”

With a rousing score that blends elements of pop, gospel and jazz, featuring tight harmonies and darling vocals, Songs for a New World transports its audience from the deck of a spanish sailing ship bound for a new land, to the ledge of a New York penthouse. Characters range from a young man in the Bronx who dreams of becoming a famous basketball player, to a forlorn and neglected Mrs. Claus lamenting as Christmas approaches.  A small but powerful cast and a supercharged, brilliant score appeal to old and new generations alike as each character — in their own way — takes hold of that one moment and enters a new world.

** Pioneer Productions is a 501c-3 non-profit Community Theatre…we do not offer pay. There are no fees/dues to participate if cast.

​Seeking:    6 performers (3 Men, 3 Women) of all ethnicities, races and gender identities with dynamic voices and storytelling skills for our cast. We are leaving ages “open” for these roles although all characters range from 20’s to 50’s. Songs will be assigned by the director once casting is complete.

MAN 1: Commanding and passionate pop vocal powerhouse with strong upper range. Tenor.
 
MAN 2: Charming and compelling leading actor. Baritone/Tenor 

MAN 3: Strong actor with comedic timing. Baritone. 

WOMAN 1: Smart and vulnerable with stunning pop vocals. Soprano. 

WOMAN 2: Character actor with great comedic timing and dramatic capabilities. Alto/Belter.

WOMAN 3: Strong and compassionate. A true storyteller. Mezzo. 

Please Prepare:  a contemporary musical theater song of your choice, accompanist provided. You are welcome to sing from the show. We are looking for your most “truthful”, fully realized story song in your repertoire.

Please bring your clearly labeled sheet music in a book or a binder, and be ready to communicate any cuts or tempo changes to the accompanist. Please have a current headshot and resume if available (even a polaroid is better than nothing!)
