Act 2: Art as a Career Sequel

April 14 @ 5:00 pm - May 20 @ 6:00 pm

Free

Peters Valley School of Craft is pleased to announce a new exhibition, Act 2: Art as a Career Sequel, in the Sally D. Francisco Gallery from April 14 through May 20, 2018 with an opening reception from 5-7pm on Saturday, April 14th.

The work for this exhibition was selected through a national call for entries, juried by Jennifer Adele Zwilling, Curator of Artistic Programs at The Clay Studio in Philadelphia, and Brienne Rosner, Peters Valley Gallery Director. 65 pieces (each by a different artist) were chosen from 520 individual submissions by 173 applicants. The work on display is in a variety of fine craft and art media.

Artists find their calling at all different stages of life, some early on and others further down the road. This exhibition celebrates the determination and passion of those who have pursued an artistic path after initially choosing another career or field of study. Architects, scientists, educators, financiers, a dentist, a barber, and a plumber are just a sampling of the diverse backgrounds these second career artists have.
