For at least the third time since April, a pedestrian has been struck by a vehicle in a Morristown crosswalk.
A local motorist was charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk after striking a woman on Madison Avenue on Monday afternoon, police reported.
The victim, a 33-year-old Morris Township resident, sustained non-life-threatening injuries when she was hit while crossing the avenue towards Franklin Street at 5 pm, according to Lt. Stuart Greer.
She was treated at Morristown Medical Center and released.
Yuko Yamada, 37, was turning from Franklin onto Madison when her 2018 Lexus struck the victim, Greer said in a statement. Officers interviewed witnesses and confirmed that the victim was in a marked crosswalk at the time of the accident, the lieutenant said.
Earlier this month, a woman was hit by a Jeep while she was in a crosswalk at South Street near the Rite Aid / Walgreen’s stores, late on a Sunday afternoon.
On a Saturday morning in April, a blind man and his Seeing Eye dog were struck in a DeHart Street crosswalk at South Street.
Drivers received tickets in both of those cases. Injuries to the victims were not considered life-threatening.
