From the Morris Educational Foundation:

The Morris Educational Foundation (MEF) is proud to announce that a new round of grants totaling $11,600 has been awarded to enrich the educational experience of students in the Morris School District. These grants fund programs and resources not covered by the school budget or tax dollars and bridge gaps to ensure students have access to exceptional learning opportunities that extend far beyond the classroom.

The MEF plays a key role in supporting innovative initiatives that inspire creativity, strengthen academic excellence, and bring hands-on learning experiences throughout the 180 days of school. With this latest round of grants, the Foundation has awarded over $100,000 to date this school year, thanks entirely to the continued generosity of donors.

The following grants were awarded at the Jan. 13, 2026, Morris School District Board of Education meeting:

One Good Scene Scriptwriting
A professional scriptwriter and actors will visit Morristown High School to guide advanced Creative Writing students in crafting and performing original short dialogue scenes, strengthening their storytelling and communication skills.

Writers Circle Workshops
Third-graders District-wide will participate in Writers Circle Workshops, which will provide interactive, confidence-building creative writing experiences that inspire a lasting love of storytelling.

Morristown High School Academics
A generous donor has designated two separate grants to support the Morristown High School Chemistry and Math Departments, reinforcing continued community commitment to academic excellence.

“These grants reflect what’s possible when a community invests in its children,” said Ann Rhines, MEF Grants Chair and former teacher and member of the Morris School District Board of Education.

“As an educator, I’ve seen firsthand how experiences like these ignite curiosity, build confidence, and create meaningful connections to learning. The MEF is proud to support programs that enrich classrooms and expand opportunities for every student.”

Through strategic partnerships and the generosity of donors, the MEF continues to fund innovative programs that enhance education in all ten Morris School District schools. Highlights and updates from these programs are shared on the Foundation’s social media pages, celebrating the real impact of community support.

Additional grants will be awarded in March and May of 2026. The MEF encourages community members to contribute to its 180 Days of Impact campaign, where every donation, large or small, delivers transformative opportunities, inspiration and growth.
