Ukrainian National Women’s League of America
to Celebrate Centennial in Whippany;
State, County and Local Officials to Honor 100 Years of Service
The Ukrainian National Women’s League of America (UNWLA) New Jersey Regional Council is proud to announce the UNWLA’s 100th Anniversary Centennial Celebration, taking place on Sunday, Jan. 25, 2026, at 2 PM at the Ukrainian American Cultural Center of New Jersey in Whippany.
Founded in 1925, the UNWLA has spent a century as the premier organization for Ukrainian women in the United States, dedicated to humanitarian aid, educational excellence, and the preservation of Ukrainian cultural identity.
The New Jersey Regional Council, representing over 240 members across the state, will commemorate this milestone with a program that bridges a century of history with the urgent needs of the present day.
The event is expected to feature an appearance and formal proclamation from state Assemblywoman Aura Dunn (R-25th Dist.), the Morris County Board of County Commissioners, and local officials who have remained steadfast partners to the Ukrainian-American community.
“This Centennial is not just a look back at our past, but a testament to the ‘unbending will’ of Ukrainian women,” said Nadia Nynka, UNWLA NJ regional president. “From supporting orphans in the 1920s to shipping tons of medical aid today through partners like Dnipro LLC, our mission has never been more vital.”
Event Highlights:
- A Historic “Pryvit”: A traditional Ukrainian bread-and-salt welcoming ceremony for dignitaries and guests.
- Musical Masterpieces: Performances by the “Dzerelo” Women’s Chorus of Branch 65 and an exclusive “Retro Revival” set by the internationally acclaimed, Berklee-educated vocalist Valeriia Vovk.
- Cultural Legacy: A video retrospective detailing the UNWLA’s impact on New Jersey’s social and cultural fabric.
- Community Leadership: Recognition of local pillars including Myron Bytz of the Ukrainian American Cultural Center of NJ.The celebration comes at a time of continued resilience for the Ukrainian community. A portion of the event’s proceeds will continue to fund the UNWLA’s ongoing humanitarian efforts, providing a lifeline to those impacted by the war in Ukraine.
