From Shakespearean antics to Caribbean cookouts, Greater Morristown offers a sampler platter of summer goodness this weekend. Whether you’re rallying for democracy, grooving with rock legends, or celebrating culture on the Green, you’ll find more than one reason to get out and get involved.

THURSDAY, JULY 17, 2025:

Morristown & Township Library continues its free Morning Yoga upstairs in the F.M. Kirby Gallery at 10 a.m. No registration necessary. At One Miller Road, Morristown. More info

Morristown & Township Library also hosts its weekly Chess Club from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the 1917 Reference Room. Open to all ages and skill levels. At One Miller Road, Morristown. More info

League of Women Voters of the Morris Area teams up with NJ 11th for Change and local faith leaders to host Good Trouble Lives On: A John Lewis Commemorative Rally from 6 to 7:30 p.m. outside the Morris Township Municipal Building, 50 Woodland Ave. Harmonium Choral Society and local musicians will perform. Bring blankets and picnic baskets; voter registration and sign-making on-site. Free. More info

Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey opens The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) [revised] [again] at 7:30 p.m. in a riotous, rapid-fire romp through all 37 plays in 99 minutes. “If you hate Shakespeare, you’ll LOVE this show.” Tickets: $44–$82. At 36 Madison Ave., Madison. More info

Mayo Performing Arts Center presents The Hit Men: The Ultimate Rock Concert at 7:30 p.m. Five musicians who toured with Foreigner, Sting, Billy Joel and more perform the anthems of classic rock. Tickets: $47–$67. At 100 South St., Morristown. More info

Verizon Corporate Classic 5K returns to Morristown at 7:30 p.m., with thousands of runners stepping off from the Morristown High School parking lot on Atno Avenue. Registration: $44. Streets along the course will be closed to vehicle traffic from 5 to 9 p.m. More info


FRIDAY, JULY 18:

Morris Plains Rotary Club meets at 7:45 a.m. at Uncle Giuseppe’s Market, 1171 Route 10 East, in the upstairs room. Guest speaker Bevin Tierney from Literacy Volunteers of Morris County. Buffet breakfast: $15. More info

Madison Community Arts Center presents a free outdoor performance by the Dave Murphy Band from 6 to 8 p.m. Bring a bite, grab a chair, and enjoy a night of Americana under the sky—or indoors if it rains. At 10 Kings Road, Madison. More info

One Sky returns to the Longo Planetarium at 7:30 pm at the County College of Morris, 214 Center Grove Rd., Randolph. This family-friendly show introduces kids to the night sky through multicultural storytelling. At 9 p.m., Mars: The Ultimate Voyage takes audiences on a simulated flight to the red planet, which is still visible in the evening sky. Each program includes a live tour of the stars using Digistar 7, one of the world’s most advanced planetarium systems. Tickets are $10. Reserve online. More info

Morris Plains Farmers Market continues its season from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Merchant Block, 738 Speedwell Ave. Live music, produce, baked goods, spirits, and more. Free. More info

Museum of Early Trades & Crafts presents Family Fun Day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a carnival theme—complete with juggler, bounce house, face painting, games, food trucks and more. Free. At 9 Main St., Madison. More info

Our Youth Their Future hosts a Caribbean Picnic at Gramby Park (off Abbott Avenue, Morristown) from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Expect music, food, and community vibes. More info

One Sky returns to the Longo Planetarium at 2 pm followed by Mars: The Ultimate Voyage at 3:30 p.m. and Edge of Darkness at 5 p.m. The latter explores comets, asteroids, and Pluto. All shows include a guided night-sky tour with Digistar 7. Tickets are $10 per show. Reserve online. More info

Morristown Partnership hosts the Morristown Farmers Market from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Morristown Parking Authority Lot at Spring and Morris Streets. Featuring Jersey Fresh produce, meats, cheeses, honey, mushrooms, pickles and more. Free. More info

Diversity Coalition of Morris County presents the Diversity Day Celebration from noon to 5 p.m. on the Morristown Green. Featuring global food, music, cultural performances, and an interfaith worship service at 1 p.m. Lenape artist Ty “Dancing Wolf” Ellis and Refugee Assistance Morris Partners’ Rebekah Conroy will be among the day’s speakers and performers.
