As Memorial Day approaches, Greater Morristown pauses to remember those who gave their lives in service to the nation. Between commemorations, concerts, and cultural outings, there are many ways to gather and reflect this holiday weekend.

THURSDAY, MAY 22:

Free Yoga continues at the Morristown & Township Library, upstairs in the F.M. Kirby Gallery, at 10 a.m. No registration necessary. At One Miller Road, Morristown.

Mansion in May 2025 continues at Wildfair, the 250-year-old Chester estate transformed by 38 interior designers for this signature hospital fundraising event. Admission: $55. Daily in May from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. At 100 East Main St., Chester.

The Morristown & Township Library continues its Great Directors Film Series at 6:45 p.m. with Elia Kazan’s A Face in the Crowd (1957, Andy Griffith). Free. In the downstairs Meeting Room. At One Miller Road, Morristown.

The Importance of Being Earnest continues at the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey at 7:30 p.m. Oscar Wilde’s satire of Victorian values features mistaken identities, romantic entanglements, and endlessly quotable wit. Tickets: $44–$82. Runs through June 1, 2025. At 36 Madison Ave., Madison.

FRIDAY, MAY 23:

The Morris Plains Rotary Club meets at 7:45 a.m. at Uncle Giuseppe’s Market, 1171 Route 10 East, in the upstairs room. This week’s guest speaker is Paul Muir, director of external affairs at the Morris Museum, who will discuss the museum’s history and current exhibitions. The public is welcome. Fee: $15, includes all-you-can-eat buffet breakfast.

Jazz Nite at St. Peter’s returns at 7 p.m. with the Kurt Rehm Jazz Combo, featuring George Schekiladze on piano, fresh off his new EP Hit It.

The Brooklyn Invasion brings Ilusha Tsinadze, Pete Galub, Matt Kanelos, and Dana Lyn to the Troubadour Acoustic Concert Series at 7:30 p.m. At the Morristown Unitarian Fellowship, 21 Normandy Heights Road, Morris Township. SATURDAY, MAY 24:

Qi Gong continues at the Morristown & Township Library at 9:30 a.m. in the 1917 Reference Wing. No registration necessary. At One Miller Road, Morristown.

The 39th Annual Memorial Day Parade in Morris Plains begins with a service at 9 a.m. at Roberts Garden, at the corner of Glenbrook Road and Mountain Way. The service, conducted by members of VFW Watnong Post #3401 and Denville American Legion Post 390, will include remarks from guest speaker Jim Auriemma, past commander of the Watnong VFW. At 9:30 a.m., the parade steps off and proceeds through Morris Plains, featuring over 100 units and 15 bands, including the Morristown High School Marching Colonials. The Grand Marshal? The Morris Plains Presbyterian Church! Free.

Scottie Wright performs a classical saxophone recital at 3 p.m. at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Morristown. The program includes American and French works by composers John Harbison, Fernande Breilh-Decruck, Henry Cowell, and William Bolcom. Free. At 70 Maple Ave., Morristown.

Come Original Showcase: Live Music + Pop-Up Shops kicks off at 7 p.m. at the Madison Community Arts Center, 10 Kings Road. This all-ages, BYOB event features original sets by OFF-KNOWNEOUS, The Extensions, and Lavender Disaster—plus artisan pop-up vendors including Mutual Morris Coffee Cart, Parla Creative, Ash Cap Visions, and Ten Harvest Candles. MONDAY, MAY 26, MEMORIAL DAY:

The Morristown and Morris Township Memorial Day Observance begins at 10 a.m. with a ceremony at the Morris Township Municipal Building, 50 Woodland Ave. The parade will proceed to the Morristown Green for an 11 a.m. ceremony honoring those who gave their lives in service. Keynote speaker: Air Force veteran Val DiGiacinto, president of Welcome Home Vets of NJ.  Free.
