Summer is not through with us just yet.

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for today, Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2024.

Greater Morristown could see the mercury top 93 degrees, with a heat index of 103, according to the forecast.  The advisory is in effect from 11 am to 8 pm.

“Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses,” cautions the weather service.

It advises:

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.

The rest of the Labor Day weekend looks more comfortable, with temperatures in the uppers 70s and low 80s, and a chance of showers Saturday through Monday.
