From the Morristown Rotary:
Morristown Rotary Club welcomed volunteers to Lidgerwood Park
as part of Deloitte’s Impact Day Community Project
The Morristown Rotary Club worked with volunteers from Deloitte last month to plant trees and native flora and remove invasive plants at Lidgerwood Park.
The Morristown Shade Tree Commission and the Friends of Foote’s Pond Wood provided perspective on the beneficial role of trees and plants in an ecologically supportive watershed and habitat for native wildlife.
Each year, Deloitte hosts an annual day of service, known as Impact Day, empowering their professionals to engage in volunteer projects with various nonprofit organizations nationwide.
Monica Larsen Wetherell and Vikram Salgaonkar coordinated efforts with a team of 19 professionals from Deloitte, alongside a contingent of Morristown Rotarians. Expertise and guidance was provided by Kristin Ace, chairperson of the Shade Tree Commission, and Susan and John Landau from the Friends of Foote’s Pond Wood.
According to Steve Ellerman, past president of the Morristown Rotary Club, “Our Club has a long-standing history of supporting the community at Lidgerwood Park with the installation of a pavilion as part of the Club’s 100th year anniversary, Little League scoreboard and this latest effort.”
“This community is important to us and, on behalf of Deloitte, we are delighted to have volunteered at Lidgerwood Park,” said Paul Krieger, New Jersey managing partner, Deloitte LLP.
“This Impact Day is significant milestone – the 25th anniversary. Our Impact Day has been a time to come together to help create positive change and drive progress toward a more equitable and sustainable future for all. This year Deloitte’s New Jersey offices had more than 1,500 volunteers participating in 54 projects across the state, including this one. My sincere thanks to all those involved in this community service work.”
The project was a great success and added to the beautification of Lidgerwood Park.
CORRECTION: Due to an editing error, an earlier headline incorrectly reported the location of this community project. The volunteers worked at Lidgerwood Park.
You are ALL to be commended for the wonderful contribution you have made to our immediate neighborhood and Morristown as well. Footes Pond is our very own Walden Pond . Thank you again for your gift to us all.
Thanks for catching that!
The rotary is to be commended for its work at Lidgerwood Park. Your headline says they worked at Foote’s Pond Wood. Perhaps they will another day.
