From Morris Township:

Morris Township is proud to announce the culmination of its Hometown Heroes Project.

Under the direction of Mayor Mark Gyorfy and in partnership with American Legion Post 59 and the Morristown Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, families or individuals wishing to honor a veteran who is a current or past Township resident were given the opportunity to sponsor that veteran and simultaneously make a donation to the American Legion Post 59.

The Township commissioned 44 banners for servicemen and women from all five branches of the military: Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard. The banners display military portraits of the veterans as well as their military branch, years of service, and military rank.

These patriotic tributes can be viewed throughout the month of November on the property of the Township Municipal Building at 50 Woodland Ave. and along Dwyer Lane and Fanok Road, which are both near the Municipal Building.

A special recognition will be done at the Veteran’s Day Ceremonies at Township Hall on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023, at 10 am.
