Morristown wasn’t the only place around here with contested primaries on Tuesday.
Morris County Commissioner Tayfun Selen held off a challenge from former congressional candidate Paul DeGroot in a GOP primary.
In the 26th legislative district, which includes Morris Plains, the ticket of state Sen. Joe Pennacchio and Assemblymen Jay Webber and Brian Bergen easily bested their Republican rivals Tom Mastrangelo, a Morris County commissioner; former Assemblywoman BettyLou DeCroce, and Robert Peluso, in a bitterly fought contest.
With nearly $1 million spent, the LD 26 race may have been New Jersey’s most expensive primary this year, according to NJ Spotlight News.
Brian Bergen, one of the Legislature’s most conservative members, presently represents the 25th District, but a redistricting has moved the Denville resident into the 26th.
And then there is this fellow Chris Christie…
He has a Morristown office, but spent Tuesday in New Hampshire. New Jersey’s former governor announced his second bid for the GOP presidential nomination.
