THURSDAY, MAY 25, 2023:
The Morristown & Township Library hosts free yoga on its lawn at 10 am, and every Thursday through mid-October, weather-permitting. Call 973-538-6161 if the weather looks iffy.
The Morris Museum in Morris Township presents At Home With George: Washington’s Morristown Winter, 1779-80, an exhibition by photographer Xiomáro that commemorates the initial sacrifices during the Revolutionary War – a price that continues to be paid in subsequent battles for liberty. Mansion in May, a fundraiser of the Women’s Association for Morristown Medical Center, continues each day this month from 10 am to 4 pm at Three Fields in Mendham. Admission: $50. Read more here.

The multi-talented Munah Hayes presents free Dance Fitness classes at 6 pm at the Marion Sally Residents Center, at 23 Clyde Potts Drive in Morristown. Register at 862-777-5355.
Jazz favorite Grover Kemble performs at Rockaway’s Caffé NaVona, 147 Route 46, from 6 – 9 pm. Hear him play songs from his new album, I’m Serious.
Morristown’s St. Peter’s Episcopal Church hosts tango lessons in the Parish House, 7 pm for beginners, 8 pm intermediate class. At 70 Maple Ave.
FRIDAY, MAY 26:
At 7:30 pm, the Folk Project’s Troubadour series presents Buskin & Batteau, with opener Stacia Thiel, at the Morristown Unitarian Fellowship. Admission: $10; children 12 and under, free. Livestream: $7. At 21 Normandy Heights Road, Morris Township.

SATURDAY, MAY 27:
A 9 am Memorial Service at Roberts Garden in Morris Plains will be followed by the borough’s 37th annual Memorial Day Parade. Lt. Col. Alexander D. Burgos from Picatinny Arsenal will be the featured speaker at the service. Morris Plains Police Lt. Michael E. Rolph, a Marine Corps veteran, is this year’s parade Grand Marshal. Morris County’s largest Memorial parade will feature 100 units and 16 marching bands, along with the Future Marines of RSS Northwest and the Mega Robot. The parade begins at Roberts Garden, at Mountain Way and Glenbrook Road, and ends at the Route 53 VFW Post, where refreshments and entertainment will be provided by the VFW and Parade Committee.

SUNDAY, MAY 28:
The Morristown Rotary Music Festival will present live bands, karaoke for kids, games, and a tree dedication in memory of former Mayor Jay DeLaney, from 11 am to 2 pm at the Lidgerwood Park and Gazebo, at 30 Erskine Drive. Bring a lawn chair and a picnic lunch!
The Morristown chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will host a grave-marking ceremony for Revolutionary War surgeon Dr. Jabez Campfield at 1:30 pm, in the burying yard at The Presbyterian Church in Morristown, 57 Park Place. Members of two of the military units Dr. Campfield served in will also participate in this ceremony: Spencer’s Additional Continental Regiment and the Second Continental Dragoons each will honor their fallen soldier in the traditional manner of the time. Additionally, the New Jersey Fifes and Drums will play a selection of 18th century music to authentically recreate the experience of field musicians during the American Revolution.

MONDAY, MAY 29, MEMORIAL DAY:
At 7:30 am, Morris Township will provide transportation from the Municipal Building to area memorials for wreath-layings. (Email here to reserve a space.) The Township’s Memorial Service follows at 10 am, at the Municipal Building on Woodland Avenue. At 10:30 am, a parade will proceed to the Morristown Green, for a service at 11 am.
