Morristown police hold promotion/swearing-in ceremony for 18 officers

The Morristown Police Department held a promotion and swearing-in ceremony for 18 officers at the Hyatt Regency in Morristown on Monday evening. Chief of Police Darnell Richardson delivered some gracious remarks which opened the ceremony, followed by the pledges of the new and veteran officers. Each individual recited the “Law Enforcement Oath of Honor” in front of families and colleagues.

Promotions were announced for Capt. Keith Cregan; Lt. Joseph Heuneman; and Sergeants Adam Hagelin, Scott Pino, and Diego Alvarado.

New Officers Nico Hollain, Sean Grawehr, Kenneth Murphy, Eric Steele, Jorge Ramirez, Christopher Barreto, Riley Cedar, Gregory Hanley, Morgan Pfiel, Steven Almeida, David Moran, Arturo Layza, and Kenneth Frohnapfel all were sworn in for the first time with the Morristown Bureau of Police.

“We have had a number of departures in our police department over the past few years, and I’m proud to welcome these new officers who bring diversity and skill to our police force,” said Morristown Mayor Tim Dougherty.

“I have so much appreciation for these women and men who dedicate their time and service. I wish them the best of luck throughout their career in Morristown!”

In his closing remarks, Public Safety Director Michael Corcoran Jr. thanked each promoted officer for his leadership, and reminded them of their important role in helping to develop and mentor the new officers. New officers were warmly congratulated, and challenged to build legacies of their own, blazing the trail for those who will eventually follow in their footsteps.

Attendees included Business Administrator Jillian Barrick. Also in attendance were Morristown Council President Sandi Mayer, Vice President Nathan Umbriac, Councilman Robert Iannaccone and Councilwoman Toshiba Foster.

Several members of the Morristown police department also were on hand to wish their colleagues well in their new positions.
