THURSDAY, NOV. 3, 2022:

Jazz favorite Grover Kemble performs at Rockaway’s Caffé NaVona, 147 Route 46, from 6 – 9 pm. See our review of his recent Troubadour gig.

Morristown’s St. Peter’s Episcopal Church hosts tango lessons in the Parish House, 7 pm for beginners, 8 pm intermediate class. At 70 Maple Ave.

The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey in Madison presents Florence and Mojo, a pair of one-act plays by Alice Childress, a Pulitzer-nominated African American playwright from the 1950s and ’60s. FRIDAY, NOV. 4:

Morristown’s Assumption Church celebrates its 150th anniversary with a dinner dance, starting at 6 pm at the Madison Hotel in Morris Township. Tickets: $175. At One Convent Road.

SATURDAY, NOV. 5:

Family Promise of Morris County hosts its second annual Steve Hammond Homebound Hustle 5K & 1 Mile Walk at Central Park of Morris County in Morris Plains, check-in time: 9 am. Fee: $35. Named for the late Family Promise president and county engineer, the event raises money for programs to combat homelessness.

The Market Street Mission hosts its 32nd annual Coat Giveaway, from 10 am to 1 pm on the Morristown Green. Rain location: 9 Market St.

The Morristown Farmers Market continues its 32nd season, every Sunday through Nov. 20, 2022, from 8:30 am to 1 pm, behind the Post Office in Morristown Parking Authority Lot 10 at Spring and Morris Streets. Presented by the Morristown Partnership.

The Education Foundation of Morris Plains hosts its sixth annual Strides for Education 5K Run/Walk at 9 am. Fees from $10 to $25. Starts and ends at Simon’s Park. Proceeds benefit programs in the K-8 district.

The Ukrainian American Cultural Center of New Jersey in Whippany hosts a 1:30 pm panel discussion comparing today’s war in Ukraine with the Holodomor genocide of 1932/33. Admission: $25, includes light reception. At 60-C North Jefferson Road. Email here for more.
