TENEBRAE BRINGS FINEST CHORAL WORKS TO MORRISTOWN, NJ

The Presbyterian Church in Morristown to Host
Tenebrae’s First Northeast Performance since 2018

The Presbyterian Church in Morristown is excited to welcome the internationally-renown choir, Tenebrae, on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2022.

Tenebrae will perform at the historic Church on the Green for its first northeast performance since 2018. Tenebrae will be performing A Hymn of Heavenly Beauty, a program that celebrates some of the finest choral works from the Renaissance through the present day, ranging from the haunting Allegri Miserere mei, Deus, to the works of John Tavener.

Featuring a number of familiar favorites, these works showcase the rich beauty of the motets of Anton Bruckner, the prayerful intimacy of contemporary English masters and the soaring contrapuntal lines of the late Renaissance.

Closing with Harris’ spectacular Faire is the Heaven, this program is a true homage to choral greats past and present.

“After having been in love with their recordings for a number of years, it is a bit of a dream-come-true to finally hear Tenebrae live,” says Dr. Matthew Webb, director of music at the Presbyterian Church in Morristown.

“To be able to host them in Morristown is the icing on the cake. The chance to experience world-class choral artistry in the magnificent, redesigned acoustics of the Presbyterian Church in Morristown will be heavenly bliss!”

The concert starts at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $20-$80 and may be purchased here. The Presbyterian Church of Morristown (a.k.a. The Church on the Green) is at 57 East Park Place, Morristown 07960.
