From the Town of Morristown:

MORRISTOWN NAMED AMONG THE TOP 100 BEST PLACES
TO LIVE IN THE UNITED STATES

The Town of Morristown has recently been named in Livability’s annual ranking of “Best Places to Live in the U.S. in 2022,” ranking 30th out of 100 communities across the country. Morristown was the only town in New Jersey to make the list.

“I am incredibly honored that Morristown was listed as one of the best places to live in the United States,” said Mayor Tim Dougherty.

“This remarkable acknowledgement shows the world what we in Morristown already know: Morristown is a wonderful place to be. This is a testament to our incredible residents, amazing small businesses, strong workforce, and so much more. The data is important, but it is the people that make Morristown what it is today.”

For the last nine years, Livability editors and data scientists have collaborated to develop a data driven list of the Top 100 Best Places to Live in America. This year, Livability examined over 2,300 mid-sized communities based on over 50 data points that were grouped into eight categories – amenities, economy, demographics, housing, social and civic capital, education, health care, and infrastructure. From the data points in these categories, Livability used its proprietary algorithm to calculate a LivScore.

Morristown’s Quality of Life LivScore was 634 out of a possible 800, a very impressive ranking. Morristown earned the most points in civics, infrastructure, education, and economy. As much as this data is based on numerical statistics, a large part of Livability’s ranking is also based on if a community is somewhere people actually want to live. According to Livability, people would most definitely want to live in Morristown.

Morristown has a flourishing and walkable downtown, combined with a vibrant arts scene, and plenty of historic charm. The town is filled to the brim with great shops, great restaurants, and much more. It also has easy rail access and a low average commute time which is complemented by a ring of parks circling the town. Residents couldn’t ask for a more comforting and convenient place to live.

With a median household income of over $111,000, there is plenty of success in Morristown. Livability points out that homes in Morristown are some of the most valuable in the state, leading a booming real estate market.

Locals have countless favorite places throughout town. If you’re looking for something to do for free, take a visit to the gorgeous waterfall at Speedwell Park or relax amongst nature at Foote’s Pond Park. Weekends are best spent strolling through the town’s beautiful downtown area, shopping at the local boutiques, and enjoying a wide variety of culinary delights.

Morristown invites visitors to come see first hand the amazing community it is. You can read the full report on Morristown’s ranking here.

  1. A tiny city, Morristown has diverse housing opportunities for any income. It’s place where everyone is welcome. Although I have to admit that drivers just passing through and in a hurry annoy me.

  2. this is great and I do like living in Morristown but on a median income of $111,000 it would be tough to find an affordable place to live in Morristown. Also, regarding rail service…..that is great except that NJ Transit is very unreliable so that feature is not as attractive as it once was
