Biking is a great way to stay in shape, and a great way to beat $5-per-gallon gasoline prices.

But if pedaling in traffic scares you, Avenues in Motion (formerly TransOptions) is offering a free, two-part course for adults next month. The first session is online; the second is in the Morristown parking lot of the Visiting Nurse Association of Northern New Jersey.

The course is free, but registration is required.

Here is more, from Avenues in Motion:

Participants will review how to best choose a bicycle, essential equipment, local bike law, as well as how to safely and comfortably ride your bike in various traffic conditions, terrain and climates. This class is being offered free of charge; however, advance registration is required. Space is limited.

Part 1:

  • Location: Virtual Classroom (ZOOM)
  • Date/Time: Thursday, Aug. 4, 2022, from 6:30 pm-7:30 pm
  • *This session will be recorded if you cannot make the live class

Part 2:

  • Location: 175 South St., Morristown, NJ 07960
  • Visiting Nurses Association Parking Lot

  1. It’s been my observation that it is often speeding, careless motorists who cause the problems. Lack of sidewalks for pedestrians in the Township also causes problems as pedestrians compete with cyclers for limited space.
