THURSDAY, JULY 21, 2022:

The Morristown & Township Library presents yoga on its side lawn at 10 am. Free. Please bring your own yoga mat and equipment. At One Miller Road, Morristown.

Also at the library at 10 am, join the in-person discussion at the Virtual Morning Book Club. Featured this week: The Paper Palace by Miranda Cowley Heller. The nonprofit Masterwork Music and Art Foundation presents a 5 pm organ recital by Colin Lynch at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Morristown. Free, donations gratefully accepted; a reception will follow. Advanced registration appreciated. Lynch will perform works by Florence Price, Camille Saint-Saëns, Maurice Duruflé and Charles-Marie Widor on the church’s 1930 Skinner organ. At South Street and Miller Road.

FRIDAY, JULY 22:

Madison’s Museum of Early Trades and Crafts continues its free summer concert series with The Best of Broadway, from 6 pm to 8 pm. At 9 Main St., (973) 377-2982.

 

CANCELED AT THE TROUBADOUR! Keith Grimwood and Ezra Idlet of Trout Fishing in America explained on their Facebook page: “COVID finally caught up to us at the Trout House so we have to suspend our July tour.  Aside from being contagious, we’re okay and heartbroken about not getting to play music.  Stay tuned for show updates and stay safe as much as you can!” At 7:30 pm, the Folk Project’s Troubadour series presents Trout Fishing In America with opener Carla Ulbrich at the Morristown Unitarian Fellowship. The Morris Plains Farmers Market is back for 20th season, from 9 am – 1 pm every Saturday through Oct. 8, at 771 Speedwell Ave., the Speedwell Avenue Extension — across from The Plaza Restaurant and Taylor’s Consignment Shop.

The Morris County Tourism Bureau continues its 2022 Summer Walking Tours at 11 am, with a Victorian Morristown Walking Tour. Tickets: $25, registration required. Guided by Karen Ann Kurlander. The Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey continues its Summer Festival with a 2 pm symposium at Washington’s Headquarters Museum in Morristown. Free.  On display: A recently discovered letter from opera composer Richard Wagner to King
Ludwig of Bavaria discussing Die Walkure. The event will include a recital of Wagner arias
with special guest Metropolitan Opera bass Harry Dworchak and talks by Dr. Jude Pfister and Maestro Robert Butts. Pianist John Pivarnik will perform Wagner pieces on the museum’s Wagner-era Steinway piano. At 30 Washington Place, 973-669-1640.

SUNDAY, JULY 24:

The Morristown Farmers Market is back for its 32nd season, every Sunday through Nov. 20, 2022, from 8:30 am to 1 pm, behind the Post Office in Morristown Parking Authority Lot 10 at Spring and Morris Streets. Presented by the Morristown Partnership.

Do you like ice cream? Check out Alstede Farms 40th Anniversary Ice Cream Taste Testing, in Chester from 9 am to 6 pm. Free. Continues each day through July 31, 2022. At 1 Alstede Lane. Three new homemade ice cream flavors–Blueberry Lemon, Peach Cobbler and Carrot Cake — will vie for 40th anniversary honors.

St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Morristown continues its six-week series of free carillon performances with a 5 pm concert by Hunter Chase. Bring a lawn chair or beach blanket to the Great Lawn, at South Street and Miller Road.
