Here is video from Wednesday’s protest at Morristown High, where an estimated 1,000 students left classes to rally for stricter national gun laws in the wake of last month’s elementary school massacre in Uvalde, Texas.
Video: Morristown High students walk out, to protest gun violence:
Nineteen pupils and two teachers were killed there by an 18-year-old who authorities say legally purchased an assault rifle. News reports also indicate the shooter had been teased and bullied over a speech impediment, and then he threatened others online.
Students at the Morristown protest expressed fears about becoming targets of bullies. One speaker urged classmates to seek professional help when they need it; another reminded them they are a community and must look after each other.
Aaron Andino, president of the junior class, said many parents in Uvalde are like his parents, Hondurans who sacrificed everything to seek a better life in America for their families.
Now, their children and other victims across the country have become “sacrificial lambs for the Second Amendment,” Andino said. “Yet it is clear as day that we do not have to live this way.”
Well organized and run by students who care about the lost lives and the message it gives us all. Why are the gun manufactures get big tax breaks and are nothing held held responsible for their actions? More children die in our country of gun shot wounds than any other cause, why????
