The Morris Educational Foundation on Tuesday announced it has hired its first full-time executive director, Joelle Servais, a 1992 graduate of Morristown High School with 25 years experience in the nonprofit sector.

She succeeds Chrissie Wetherbee, who stepped down as part-time director last October after serving in various roles for seven years.

Servais is the sister-in-law of Molly Servais, an MEF trustee since 2009 and chair of the scholarship committee.

Here is more.

The Morris Educational Foundation (MEF), a non-profit organization enhancing excellence in education in the Morris School District, announces the appointment of Joelle Servais as the MEF’s first full-time executive director.

A graduate of Morristown High School class of ‘92, Joelle returns as a District parent of four children bringing 25 years of nonprofit experience to the MEF.

With a focus on youth development and social justice issues, Joelle most recently served as the Director of Development and Communications at The Liberty Fund, New York City’s first city-wide charitable bail fund.

Her experience also includes posts at Exalt Youth, DePaul Catholic High School and The Boys’ Club of New York, as well as a BA from Columbia University.

“One exciting project on the horizon is the 50th Anniversary of the Morris School District’s historic formation,” says Servais.

“I look forward to collaborating with my colleagues to educate the entire community about the District’s historic beginnings and create next steps for its continued success.”

Joining an incredible staff, Joelle is further supported by: Caroline Godfrey, who was promoted to associate executive director in November 2021; Nubia Gomez (MHS ‘06), who joined in December 2021 as bookkeeper; and Laurie Pepitone, who has served as the Director of Marketing and Communications for over two years.

“On behalf of the MEF board as well as our constituents, I’d like to welcome Joelle to the MEF family. Coincidental with the MEF’s 30-year anniversary, we are confident Joelle’s joining the MEF will be instrumental in elevating the organization to new heights.” said Hector Mislavsky, chairperson of the Morris Educational Foundation.

“Together with Joelle, our staff have strong ties to the Morristown community and heartfelt interest in support of the Morris School District.”

  1. JCoops, help us understand why you are opposed to social justice and charitable balls. Explain.

  2. Ian, you’re so unhinged that I’m genuinely worried for you. This odd ranting tantrum makes no sense. Clowns, crypto-fascists, MAGAts, moral deviants? Not sure if you’re drunk or deranged, but your post is so very odd.

You want me to say what I mean? I did. I said what I meant, clearly and coherently. I will add that the school district merger was over 50 years ago, before I was born, although if I were an adult at the time I would have fully supported it. I do not own a gun and neither do my children, and I support gun law reform. I am also not a republican if that is what your MAGAt rant was meant to imply.

Ian, I wish you well, but you need treatment.

  3. And like clockwork, all the MAGATs come out of holes to spout their ignorant garbage about the “far left” and about how much they hate “justice.” We get it: you guys were a part of the faction that didn’t want the school district integrated to begin with. I wish you MAGAts would just come out and say what you mean instead of all this crypto-fascist gibberish about “social justice” and “liberals.”

Clowns. Maybe you people should pay more attention that your MAGAt kids aren’t bringing guns to school murdering their classmates while you run your mouths about your “2nd Amendment rights.” Moral deviants, all of you.

  4. Sorry MEF, you lost me at “social justice issues” and “charitable bail fund”. This radical left liberal is the last thing either the school district or the MEF needs. Donate elsewhere.

  5. I’m all for youth development but when they throw in social justice issues everyone should buckle up for a wild ride.

I will continue to teach my kids what’s right and wrong, to treat all people with respect and to reap only what you sow.

I’m sure this foundation will tell certain children they are a victim and that the child over there’s Great Great Great Great Great Grandpa was part of the patriarchy which is why he family doesn’t live on the other side of town.

The slippery slope of turning child against each other is all these people are doing. What a shame.
