Severe thunderstorms, ‘hazardous weather,’ possible for Greater Morristown, May 16

The National Weather Service has issued a “Hazardous Weather Outlook” for Morris County today, Monday, May 16, 2022.

“Scattered severe thunderstorms” are possible, between 4 pm and 9 pm, according to the forecast. These storms could bring more than three-quarters of an inch of rain.

As of Monday morning, the Morris County Office of Emergency Management adds:

Currently, strong storms with gusts of 45-70 mph are possible. In addition, it is anticipated that we will experience heavy rainfall, moderate to frequent lightning, and a risk for hail.

The anticipated window of storm activity is 3-9 pm at this time. This could change based on the storm track.

Please keep in mind that strong winds can blow unsecured items.
