You need venture no farther than South Street to experience South Pacific this weekend.

Greater Morristown’s entertainment treats don’t stop there.

Award-winning percussionists, choral concerts, children’s favorites, rummage sales, seedlings–they all beckon.

Don’t let that Friday the 13th stuff scare you, either. It could be your lucky day.

THURSDAY, MAY 12, 2022:

The Morristown & Township Library presents yoga on its side lawn at 10 am. Free. Please bring your own yoga mat and equipment. At One Miller Road, Morristown.

Jazz favorite Grover Kemble performs at Rockaway’s Caffe Navona, 147 Route 46, from 6 – 9 pm.

Drew University in Madison presents commencement ceremonies for the Theological School at 10 am, and at 3 pm for the Caspersen School of Graduate Studies, both on the Mead Hall lawn. At 36 Madison Ave.

Morristown’s Mayo Performing Arts Center presents Rodgers & Hammerstein’s South Pacific at 8 pm. Tickets: $59-$99. Two encore shows on Saturday. At 100 South St., call 973-539-8008.


SATURDAY, MAY 14:

The Morristown United Methodist Church’s 27th Annual Rummage Sale runs from 9 am to 2 pm, and continues on May 18 (10 am-2 pm & 5 pm-8 pm), and May 21, 2022 (9 am-2 pm). Proceeds benefit the church’s summer Appalachia service project. At the church, at 50 South Park Place.

The Woman’s Club of Morristown presents a flash clothing sale from 9 am to 3 pm. Proceeds benefit the club, its charities, and its headquarters, at 51 South St.

Grow It Green Morristown hosts a seedling sale from 10 am to 2 pm at the Urban Farm, at 31 Hazel St.  Volunteers from Cohome Inc. in Morristown also will collect your plastic pots and trays for recycling, from 10 am to 1 pm.

The Schiff Nature Preserve in Mendham presents a Full Moon Hike, from 7 pm to 9:30 pm. Fees: $10-$15. Wear hiking boots, appropriate attire, bring headlamp. Pre-registration required. At 339 Pleasant Valley Road (Use 339 Schiff Dr in your GPS).


SUNDAY, MAY 15:

The Superhero Half Marathon proceeds from Ginty Field in Morris Township at 8:30 am. See the race website for registration details.

The Morris Museum in Morris Township presents Britton-Rene Collins: On Time 
at 2 PM in the Bickford Theatre. Collins will perform Elapse, a new work commissioned by the Museum, and another world premiere, Ellias Haddad’s Erratic Bliss, plus works by Frederic Rzewski and Collins’ arrangement of Bach’s Partita No. 2 in D minor. Willow Hall in Morristown presents an extended Mother’s Day celebration: Plant a Flower with Mom! from 2 pm to 4 pm. Decorate an upcycled pot, and plant your own seeds. Pre-registration required.  At 330 Speedwell Ave.
