Whippany River Watershed Action Committee (WRWAC) Announces
Its Second Annual BioBlitz Morris Nature Festival on June 4, 2022

The Whippany River Watershed Action Committee (WRWAC) is pleased to announce the Second Annual BioBlitz Morris Nature Festival on Saturday, June 4, 2022, in Lewis Morris County Park in Morris Township.
The public is invited to come and learn about conservation and how to preserve, protect and maintain the environment. This year’s event will include free, family-friendly activities such as nature walks and stream assessments. There will also be an American BBQ All-You Can-Eat for $15/person. The event will take place rain or shine from 10 am to 4 pm.
The BioBlitz Morris Nature Festival will feature environmental programs and activities for people of all ages including a reptile program by Eyes of the Wild, an aquatics program by Jenkinson’s Aquarium, the Grand Falloons and various nature programs and workshops.
Last year’s early morning bird walk, sponsored by Wild Birds Unlimited of Denville, resulted in the identification of 37 different species of birds. It will be interesting to see what this year’s BioBlitz will bring.
This year, Global Container Terminals will be an Environmental Steward Sponsor. Global Container was instrumental in the removal of a 20-foot container with a tare weight of about 5,000 pounds from the banks of the Whippany River in Morristown last August.
The Burnham Park Association is returning as a Blitz Chieftan Supporter. The 2022 sponsor categories are: River Champion, $2,500; Environmental Steward, $1,000; Blitz Chieftain, $500; Stream Advocate, $250, Nature Lover, $100.
WRWAC’s municipal partners include the Boroughs of Madison, Mendham, Morris Plains, and Mountain Lakes, the Townships of Morris and Hanover and the Town of Morristown. Funding for the program is also supported by the Morris County Board of Commissioners and Municipal Utilities Authority.
Funding from our members and local organizations helps WRWAC to continue its mission as a steward of the watershed. These funds allow us to sustain a successful BioBlitz Morris Nature Festival program — and we are looking forward to our second annual in collaboration with the Morris County Park Commission and County Commissioners.

The mission of the Whippany River Watershed Action Committee is to preserve, protect and maintain the land and water resources of the Whippany River Watershed. The WRWAC sponsors river clean ups, community outreach programs and works with towns and municipalities in the watershed to preserve and protect it.
