From Morristown Medical Center:

Atlantic Health System’s Morristown Medical Center and Overlook Medical Center have been named among the World’s Best Hospitals by Newsweek for the fourth consecutive year of the publication’s ranking.

In addition, both Morristown and Overlook are ranked among the Best Hospitals for Infection Prevention in 2022.

Currently, there are over 6,000 hospitals in the United States and of the 420 hospitals ranked by Newsweek, Morristown is ranked #46 – above all New Jersey hospitals, and Overlook is ranked #168.

These two Atlantic Health System medical centers join The Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, Johns Hopkins, and Massachusetts General among others on this prestigious list. Over 2,200 hospitals globally made the World’s Best List.

The World’s Best Hospitals 2022 ranking is based on responses to an online survey sent to nearly 80,000 medical experts – mostly physicians, but also hospital managers and other health care professionals in 27 countries.

Every hospital in each country was rated by a score, which is based on recommendations from medical experts, available hospital performance data and patient satisfaction, such as results from patient surveys.

In 2021, Newsweek added a dimension for infection prevention to award US hospitals that performed better than the national average regarding healthcare associated infections. Both Morristown Medical Center and Overlook Medical Center achieved this distinction for the second year in a row.

“We are fully committed to delivering the highest quality medical care for our patients every day. To be recognized on a global scale is a tribute to the dedicated team of physicians and professionals and all those who work at our hospital,” said Trish O’Keefe, PhD, RN, president, Morristown Medical Center.

“Even as COVID-19 profoundly changed how we care for our communities, what remains steadfast is our focus on clinical excellence, quality and extraordinary patient care. We strive to bring the most innovative advancements in medicine resulting in the best possible outcomes and personalized positive experiences.”

“The compassion and attention shown by every clinician and member of our staff, the advanced technology and procedures we use, the innovative approach to care, are all part of creating an exceptional experience for the patients and their loved ones who rely on us,” said Stephanie Schwartz, president of Overlook Medical Center.

“Our place among Newsweek’s World’s Best Hospitals reflects the trust and confidence that our patients and our medical community place in Overlook Medical Center. It’s an incredible recognition that our physicians and team members have earned for the outstanding care they provide each and every day.”

The World’s Best Hospitals 2022 ranking lists the best hospitals in 27 countries: USA, Germany, Japan, South Korea, France, Italy, United Kingdom, Spain, Brazil, Canada, India, Australia, Mexico, The Netherlands, Austria, Thailand, Switzerland, Sweden, Belgium, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Israel, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Colombia. The countries were selected based on multiple comparability factors, such as standard of living/life expectancy, population size, number of hospitals and data availability.
