THURSDAY, FEB. 10, 2022:

Harriet Tubman, date unknown.

For Black History Month, the Mayo Performing Arts Center is making a recorded version of the Virginia Repertory Theatre’s performance of Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad available for no charge to area schools through Feb. 21, 2022.

Morris Arts presents Reimagining Resilience, an exhibition that runs at the Atrium Gallery in Morristown through April 11, 2022. Four New Jersey artists are featured on floors two through five of the Morris County Administration and Records Building at 10 Court St. The gallery is free and open to the public during business hours, 8:30 am-4:30pm.

The Morristown & Township Library presents two virtual book talks.  At 10 am, the featured book is The Sweetness of Water by Nathan Harris. To attend, email here with the subject line “Virtual Morning Book Club”; include your full name and town of residence to receive the access code and meeting link.

At 7 pm, the virtual discussion centers on Alice Walker’s The Color Purple. For access details, email here, with “Virtual Classics Book Club” in the Subject Line. Please include your full name and town of residence in your message.

The Morristown & Morris Township Library also presents the Great Backyard Bird Count, a 7 pm virtual talk by the NJ Audubon Society.  Email here for the Zoom code.

FRIDAY, FEB. 11:

The Folk Project hosts its Open Stage  –back in live mode!– at 7:30 pm. To sign up to perform two songs, please email here.

SATURDAY, FEB. 12:

The Cupid’s Chase 5K runs through Morristown between 10 am and noon, raising money to help people with developmental disabilities.  Registration: $35.  The race starts and ends at 150-152 Speedwell Ave.

Jonathan Clancy, director of collections and preservation at The Stickley Museum at Craftsman Farms, continues his 15-week Zoom series, Close Looking: Design, at 1 pm. Fees: $25- $325.  The online courses run each Saturday through May 21, 2022.

The Morris County Park Commission presents maple sugaring demos on Saturdays and Sundays into early March 2022, at 1 pm and 2:30 pm at the Great Swamp Outdoor Education Center. Fee: $5 per person. At 247 Southern Boulevard, Chatham Township

Meet the artists in Entr’Exhibits: The Highlands’ Diverse Allure, an exhibition sponsored by the New Jersey Highlands Coalition, from 1 pm to 4 pm at Farmstead Arts, at 450 King George Road in Basking Ridge.

SUNDAY, FEB. 13:

Auditions start today for the Mayo Performing Arts Center’s June production of School of Rock The Musical.  More details are here.

The Morris Winter Farmers Market is back for a ninth season, at a new venue: Convent Station in Morris Township.  It’s open from 9:30 am to 1 pm each Sunday through March 27, 2022. More vendors, more space, and more free parking, promises sponsor Grow It Green Morristown.

Spend a winter’s day at the farm–the Fosterfields Living Historical Farm in Morris Township. Take a wagon ride, learn to cut ice, see maple sugar tapping and a special cooking demo, and visit all the farm animals. From 10 am to 3:30 pm. Register here. At 73 Kahdena Road.

The Morris Museum’s Bickford Theatre in Morris Township presents a 2 pm screening of War Horse, based on the ​ Michael Morpurgo novel, adapted by Nick Stafford in association with ​South Africa’s award-winning Handspring Puppet Company. Admission: $25. At 6 Normandy Heights Drive.
