Recently, 17 troops from the Morristown Area Girl Scouts got to work creating crafts to benefit six local organizations in the service unit’s annual SHARE community service event.  The endeavor was organized by Kathryn Tucker, an Ambassador Level Girl Scout.

Girl Scouts ranging in age from six to 18 participated in SHARE this year by selecting activities from 10 different projects.

In a hybrid environment, the girls crafted hundreds of items by working on their own or with their troops. Then they enjoyed a virtual celebration together.

The troops produced hundreds of items that included cat toys for the Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter in East Hanover; tissue paper flowers, holiday ornaments, breakfast bags and greeting cards for nourish.NJ, a social services organization in Morristown; and treat bags, ornaments and custom door signs for hospice residents at Grace Healthcare Services in Edison.
Other local beneficiaries of the project included Homeless Solutions Inc., Operation Gratitude, and the Market Street Mission. The Girl Scouts distributed fleece tie scarves, letters to military personnel, tissue paper flowers, popsicle stick soap dishes, and decorated shells among these organizations in order to make a positive impact in our community.
