The New York Red Bulls pro soccer team says its proposed eight-field training complex and headquarters on the former Honeywell tract will be a less-intensive use than housing or office buildings on the Columbia Road site.
Morris Township officials and residents will have several opportunities to examine the re-zoning proposal in coming weeks. On Wednesday, the Township Committee released this hearing schedule, which is subject to change:
- Nov. 10, 2021, 7:00pm Township Committee – Introduction of Zoning Ordinance
- Nov. 29, 2021, 7:00PM Planning Board – Master Plan Amendment and review of Zoning ordinance for Master Plan Consistency
- Dec. 2, 2021, 7:00PM Township Committee – Public Hearing for Zoning Ordinance
- Dec. 8, 2021, 7:00 PM Township Committee – Continuation of Public Hearing for Zoning Ordinance
Public comments are scheduled for the Dec. 2 meeting, according to the Committee’s message. Links to these virtual sessions will be posted on the Township website.
“The Red Bulls are proposing to purchase Lots 4 and 5 of the former Honeywell site, which have stood dormant for many years. This proposal appears to be a low-impact use of this large property and is anticipated to generate minimal traffic,” the Committee’s message said.
“The Township Committee believes in public participation in the process and urges all interested residents to attend the public meetings relating to the rezoning request.”
