MORRIS EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR STEPS DOWN
Foundation Opens Search for Full-Time Executive Director

The Morris Educational Foundation (MEF), a non-profit organization enhancing excellence in education in the Morris School District, on Tuesday announced that Chrissie Wetherbee has resigned as its part-time executive director effective Nov. 17, 2021.

She joined in 2014 as the administrative coordinator and worked in several capacities up to executive director in 2019. Chrissie has been a driving force behind the MEF’s growth and success as an organization.

A seasoned nonprofit professional, Chrissie brought expertise as a National School Foundation Association Certified Education Foundation Leader to the MEF and helped the organization grow exponentially.

During her executive director tenure, scholarship awards significantly increased from 12 to 39 awards and from $150K to $425K awarded. As such, the MEF distributes the most scholarships, the largest total amount awarded, and the greatest dollar amount per award for Morristown High School students.

Chrissie also was instrumental in the creation of the foundation’s newly launched alumni and community support network, Morristown Colonial Nation. A proud Morristown High School alumna and District parent, she will stay on in a volunteer capacity as the MEF transitions into a full-time executive director position.

“I have spent just shy of eight years working with the Morris Educational Foundation to grow funding, academic enhancements, and excellence in programming for all students in the Morris School District,” Chrissie Wetherbee said.

“My transition is a testament to our success, as the MEF is poised to elevate to the next level once again and will remain the preeminent education foundation in the state of New Jersey. I am proud of the MEF’s accomplishments, all made possible because of the excellent board, volunteers, and staff, and I look forward to continuing to support the organization’s mission, as students of today are the key to the future.”

“On behalf of the board and staff of the MEF as well as our constituents, I’d like to thank Chrissie for the great contributions she has made to the MEF and the communities we serve,” said Hector Mislavsky, chairperson of the Morris Educational Foundation.

“Chrissie’s passion and leadership will be greatly missed by the staff, board, volunteers, and partners alike; but we are fortunate and delighted that Chrissie will remain involved as a volunteer. We wish her the best of luck in her next chapter including the opportunity to spend more time with her family in Morristown.”

The Board of Trustees has formed a task force to search for the organization’s next executive director, which is currently underway. It is the priority of the Morris Educational Foundation to find a dynamic leader with a commitment to the MEF’s mission: To generate and distribute financial and other resources to and for the Morris School District for enrichment programs and other projects aimed at enhancing the quality of education and educational opportunities for students in the district.
