A SWAT team was dispatched on Monday evening to a Franklin Street apartment complex, across from Morristown Medical Center, which was placed on “precautionary lockdown.”

Shortly before midnight, police communications indicated one male was in custody, and that a prisoner was taken to the emergency room.

Reports of a domestic violence situation at 114 Franklin St., possibly involving a male with a gun, could not immediately be confirmed.

“This is an ongoing incident. More information will be released at the appropriate time,” the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.

The hospital was placed on “precautionary lockdown” just after 10 pm “due to police activity on Franklin,” said hospital spokesperson Karen Zatorski. She had no further details.

Franklin Street was closed between Ford and Madison avenues as of 11 pm, according to a Morristown police alert. By early Tuesday, the street was reopened to foot traffic –investigators still were processing the scene–and the hospital lockdown was lifted.
