Harmonium Choral Society Announces 2021-2022 Season
MORRISTOWN, N.J. — Harmonium Choral Society is pleased to announce the 2021-2022 season featuring four subscription concerts.
The season begins in October with the Chamber Singers performing Choral Cosmos, a charmingly eclectic offering that includes Russian works from Taneyev to jazz, modern composers Mari Esabel Valverde, Melissa Dunphy and Tarik O’Regan, and Renaissance works from Palestrina to Francesca Caccini.
In December the full chorus presents Goodness and Light, which will include the world premiere of composer-in-residence Martin Sedek’s Goodness and Light for chorus and Merynda Adams, harp. Seasonal offerings include Britten’s Ceremony of Carols (SSA) and Donald St. Pierre’s Songs of Sweet Accord (TTBB) and gems from Brandon Williams to Elaine Hagenburg.
March’s program is aptly titled Resilience; it will include performances of several of last year’s winners of the High School Choral Composition Contest, along with works from Heinrich Schütz to Lili Boulanger and Adolphus Hailstork to Alice Parker.
The season closes with Open Hearts, which will feature world premieres of works by Mark Miller and Amanda Harberg, with a performance by guest artists Prince Manvendra Singh Gohil, harmonium, and Kris Lamb, flute. In addition, we will proudly perform the winning composition of the 25th anniversary High School Choral Composition Contest.
Special concerts and events include an April 24, 2022, Family Concert at Christ Church in Short Hills at 3 p.m.; a June 4, 2022, fundraiser Dinner with the Prince, details TBA; and a June 27, 2022, tour sendoff concert at Grace Church in Madison in preparation for our tour of the Balkans, scheduled for June 29 through July 9, 2022.

Choral Cosmos: Saturday, Oct. 23 at 7:30 p.m., Grace Church, Madison, and Sunday, Oct. 24 at 3 p.m., Morrow United Methodist Church, Maplewood.
Goodness and Light: Saturday, Dec. 11 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, De. 12 at 3 p.m., The Presbyterian Church in Morristown.
Resilience: Saturday, March 5 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, March 6 at 3 p.m., Morristown United Methodist Church.
Open Hearts: Friday, June 3 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, June 5 at 3:00 p.m. at a new venue, the air-conditioned Our Lady of Sorrows, South Orange.
Additional Information: All of our singers are vaccinated and we will be following the science for safety protocols all year. Please make sure to check our website for changing requirements of each venue.

Subscription (4 concerts): $85 adults; $65 students and seniors (65+)
Single advance* tickets: $25 adults; $20 students and seniors
Single tickets at the door: $30 adults; $25 students and seniors
* Advance tickets are available until 11:59 p.m. on the Friday of each concert weekend.

This innovative program won the prestigious Chorus America Education and Outreach Award. Harmonium has toured internationally to England and Wales, Eastern Europe, Northern Italy, Spain and Portugal, and Greece and Turkey, and most recently traveled to the Baltics in the summer of 2016.
